How to Use Your StayAlive Water Filter

Step-by-step instructions for filtering water in the field.

Setup

  1. Connect the intake hose to the filter inlet
  2. Connect the output hose to the outlet
  3. Ensure all connections are secure

Filtering Process

  1. Source - Place intake hose in clean-looking water. For turbid water, pre-filter through cloth first.
  2. Submerge - Ensure intake is fully underwater, at least 2 inches below surface.
  3. Pump - Grip handle firmly, pump at steady pace (60-90 strokes/minute).
  4. Collect - Water flows from output hose into your container.
  5. Prime - Pump 2-3 times before drinking to ensure full filtration.

Flow Rate

Expected flow rate: 1.5-2 liters per minute with normal pumping.

Flow may slow down as filter approaches capacity.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use the built-in compass to find direction while filtering
  • The whistle can be used for signaling (up to 120dB)
  • The fire starter works in any weather condition
